Instructor Training Scholarship Program

Each year ISR will award up to ten scholarships for qualified individuals, who demonstrate financial need for scholarship assistance and who meet very specific criteria.  The types and amounts of each scholarship can vary from $2,500, $5,000, up to and including full scholarships for training.

General Information:

  1. Instructor candidates who are located in areas where there is a high demand for the ISR program are more likely to be awarded scholarship funding.


  1. Instructor candidates who are located in areas where drowning ranks as the leading cause of accidental death for children under the age of 4 years are more likely to be awarded scholarship funding.


  1. Instructor candidates with 4 year college degrees will receive priority in the consideration process.


  1. A 500 word essay describing the Instructor Candidate’s passion for working with children, including life experiences and the reasons why they want to become an ISR instructor.


  1. Scholarship applications are accepted in three rounds within each calendar year: First round deadline for funding consideration is March 1, second round deadline is May 15, third and final round for each calendar year is October 1.


  1. All scholarship recipients will be expected to complete their training within 3 months of scholarship award date.


  1. Scholarship awards require recipients to make donations of time to the Community of Caring by discounting lessons for families in need in their communities.  Specific requirements and responsibilities of recipients can be found on the scholarship application form.


  1. It will be necessary for you complete the initial ISR interview process with a Master Instructor or another Training Specialist before you can be considered for the scholarship.
